state of calm – a poem

state of calm

Closed eyes
furtively glance
side to side
back and forth
as thoughts,
conversations,
real and fictional
flutter furiously.
Breathe deeply,
relax the eye
muscles,
acknowledge
the fear,
frustration
fueled by fury.
Focus.
Full breathes
forcing air
into lungs,
muscles,
ligaments
until tension
turns into a
state of calm.
