his callous smile – a poem

His Callous Smile

His callous smile, once intriguing,
bolts of lightning makes me shiver
threatening my knees to quiver.
Do not betray inner feeling.
He holds my life, unbelieving,
for a moment. I stow away,
a single step, I underplay.
Hide in shadows, stifling screaming
here in the dark, my heart bleeding
until you take the pain away.

Poetic Asides

I submitted this poem as part of the Decima Contest over at Poetic Asides, but I didn’t win. I still like the poem, but have a look at the winners. They’re pretty awesome.
