disarm

disarm

I watched her disarm a bomb.

Angry words spoken,
punctuated pointedly
with fingers in personal space.

How many times
does something small
to us
become what shatters
another?

Sometimes we try,
time and again,
to understand and clarify,
but in the end
all we need is a new face
with a new tone
and a gentle ear,
controlling the crisis
before it escalates
into something destructive.

Then we don’t have to
disarm the bomb.

your turn

have you ever seen anyone diffuse a tense situation with ease and grace?
