Side Note:
I’m taking part in the 2014 PAD challenge, which means this is a break in what I usually post. Today’s Poem is to:
For today’s prompt, write an optional poem. And no, that does not mean that writing a poem is optional today–I know a few of you were thinking it. No, no, no. No, I’m thinking of how some things in life are completely optional; in fact, most things are. So you have options for today’s poem–maybe too many–but can one ever have too many options?
Instead of writing for NaNoWriMo, I’ve decided to make these poems inspired by the second draft of my work-in-progress, currently titled “Arch Villains”. It will also be posted in the PAD Challenge post.
Optional
Planned ahead
every item needed
accounted for
in triplicate.
Grappling hooks
swords
double armour
explosives, timers
metallic boomerangs
all items
to fight injustice.
Now, at a loss
the one item required
is the one item
considered optional
and therefore missed.
How about you?
Have you overlooked something you thought was optional only to find out you needed it? Are you participating in the 2014 PAD Challenge or NaNoWriMo? Let me know your experience in a comment below, or find me on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Plus, sign up for free e-mail updates from this blog in the top right-hand corner of the page.
