Spring is Here – April PAD Challenge

Spring is Here

A robin’s breast
proud and strong
bright orange
against dark feathers.

New leaves
breaking through buds
flash pale green
against the wet bark.

Two lips soft and purple
petals popping up
through damp soil.
Spring is here.

I am participating in the April Poem-a-Day (PAD) challenge from Writer’s Digest. My goal is not to inundate you with posts, but to provide a forum for feedback if you want to challenge me to push myself further in my writing.

I broke the rules a bit today, writing about the contrast of light and dark. Today’s prompt is a Two-for-Tuesday prompt. For those new to the challenge, you have the option of writing to the first prompt or the second prompt–or even both if you feel so inclined. Here they are:

  • Write a bright poem.
  • Write a dark poem.
