Wake-Up Call

5 am this morning I was woken up to the Fire Alarm. I quickly put on some outdoorsy clothes, grabbed my purse, locked my door (I can never remember if I’m supposed to do that…) and stepped lightly down the 8 floors of stairs to get outside. Most people stayed in the lobby, or in their own apartments. I did not, because in my head was the voice of my audiologist friend, who’s advice is always “protect your hearing!!!” 30 minutes later we went back into the building, but not after taking a picture or two to keep myself occupied and my mind from thinking about how cold that huge wind was. I amused myself with the knowledge that the firefighter at our building’s control panel was named Lamb. It must have been the fatigue, but for some reason, I thought it was very amusing, and somewhat appropriate that a big protective fire-fighting man was named Lamb. So I took his pic. Needless to say I didn’t go to the gym this morning, because it took another 30 minutes for the adrenaline to subside enough to fall asleep. Here’s hoping for unbroken sleep tonight!
