My fiance received free passes to the Hamilton Air Show so we left Toronto at 9:30 and arrived shortly before 11 am at the Hamilton International Airport. The weather was perfect, although I needed to ensure I had lots of water and sunscreen for the day. The last time I went to an Air Show … Continue reading Hamilton Warplane Heritage Museum presents the Hamilton Air Show

My Favorite Places in Vancouver
I may have moved to Toronto, Ontario, but I've been thinking about my Vancouver. As I watched the riot destruction of the city I called home for almost 4 years, the scenes made me cry because my all the familiar buildings on my walk to work were destroyed. I'm so happy people came to help … Continue reading My Favorite Places in Vancouver
As You Like It: Bard on the Beach
Yesterday was only the first time in all my three and a half years in Vancouver that I finally took in Bard on the Beach. I couldn't decide what to see from their selections before heading back to Ontario in ten days, so I decided on a comedy: As You Like It. We were informed … Continue reading As You Like It: Bard on the Beach
The Last 6 Weeks
I've gone from doing what feels like nothing in this city to doing as much as I possibly can. I got word that I've passed my last NCARB ARE exam so I now have some time to document all the things I've been up to. 1. Three Days Grace Concert, March 20th, 2011. So AMAZING! … Continue reading The Last 6 Weeks
Apologies
Life has been in turmoil for the past little while, and my reasons for lack of posting had to do primarily with studying for my NCARB ARE exams to get my licence with the AIBC. I have one more (out of 7) to do - provided I passed my structures last week.Hopefully some new posts … Continue reading Apologies
3 Day Novel Contest
I learned about the 3 Day Novel Contest completely by accident. The concept intrigued me: write approximately 30,000 words in three days, creating a manuscript between 90-150 pages, and have a witness sign a statement indicating that I wrote it over Canada’s Labour Day weekend.
Be Vortex Aware
I don't normally walk down Granville on my way home but tonight I'm glad I did. As I walked down the street I saw police cars everywhere, and smoke billowing up closer to Smithe St near where the girls from Jump Rope for Heart had been two Saturdays ago. I walked closer, somehow unafraid. It … Continue reading Be Vortex Aware
Vancouver Fitness Day
Yesterday as I waited to meet up with my friend Sylvie for lunch I watched some demonstrations for Fitness Day on Granville near Robson. My favorite was the Skippers from Jump Rope for Heart from the Heart and Stroke Foundation who put on a spectacular demonstration, and even got the audience participating and learning how to … Continue reading Vancouver Fitness Day
Crazy Demolition
I'm sorry if the video is out of whack with my site, I'm trying the embed code for the first time. This happened right outside my apartment building almost 2 weeks ago; I'm so glad I wasn't walking by like I usually do twice a week. 21 luxury residences are going into this site, so … Continue reading Crazy Demolition
Fans, Fanatics and Beyond
World Cup 2010 fever has begun in Africa and everyone's flag colours are everywhere. My friends are posting their Hyundai sponsored Jerseys of their teams choice on their facebook pages, and it reminds me of that other giant sporting event from this year, the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.I bought the red mittens, and a team Canada … Continue reading Fans, Fanatics and Beyond
The Hour Vancouver Taping: Behind the Scenes
Last night my friend and I went to go see a taping of CBC's The Hour in Vancouver. My friend won the tickets, but little did we know how much she had won. The Hour is taping in Vancouver this week. The host George Stroumboulopoulos has been twittering about everything he's been doing here, including … Continue reading The Hour Vancouver Taping: Behind the Scenes
Chiliwack Mennonite Choir
http://www.youtube.com/get_playerAs I was out running errands in between chores and studying I saw some dressed up Mennonites in a parking lot prepping for something. I wanted to stop and chat them up, since I saw a sign on the vehicle they arrived in that said "Chilliwack Mennonite Choir." I was curious to know when and … Continue reading Chiliwack Mennonite Choir
All in Together: Hulahoop Contests
Its the kind of weather that has our office windows open, with the heat and air conditioning off. From below our office drifts up the occasional "Woo!" Screams of joy and fun in unison that occur every couple of minutes. Curious I ventured over to the window of my office, and witnessed in all its glory: … Continue reading All in Together: Hulahoop Contests
Dine Out Vancouver 2010: Boneta
Went out with my cousins last week in Celebration of Dine-Out Vancouver 2010. We went to Boneta in Gastown where we had a really sumptuous $38 meal. Each restaurant has a fixed 3-part menu of $18, $28 or $38 that consists of a starter, a main course, and a dessert. The dinner was amazing! At Boneta, … Continue reading Dine Out Vancouver 2010: Boneta
Empire Fan Favorites
My newest favorite thing to do in Vancouver, is watching "classic" movies at the Empire Theatre on Granville. The company has brought us Empire Fan Favorites, which takes place in cities across Canada. They have been purchasing the rights to play older movies on the big screen, and I first noticed them last summer. As I … Continue reading Empire Fan Favorites
